How it works

Four steps, from the number on the report to a week of practice you can read in a minute.

1. Explain the score

Type in a score from your child's Star or CMAS report. The score explainer says in plain words what it means, how it compares, and what to practice next. It is free, and it needs no account.

2. Practice that follows their answers

Each day's practice leans toward the skills that need it, with a little review of the rest.

  • Right answers raise the level; a miss brings a hint, a plain explanation, and the skill again later.
  • Early reading questions are read aloud, and the screen shows nothing but the question.
  • Pick one skill, like comparing two-digit numbers, for as many reps as it takes.
  • Stars, and rewards you choose for reaching a daily goal.
Question 12 of 341:42
Which number is 10 more than 47?

3. Rehearse test day

Practice tests are modeled on each real test. Star practice tests have the real question counts, one question at a time, with Next and no going back. CMAS practice tests come in shorter units with many of the real question types, and as on the real test, your child can go back inside a unit until it is submitted. A parent can set extra time: standard, 1.5x, 2x, or no limit. Afterward, results by area show what to practice next.

4. Read the week

Each week brings a short summary on your dashboard: what was practiced, one strength, one gap, and one thing to try at home. Turn on the weekly email to get it in your inbox too.

Every number in a summary comes from your child's practice, and we check that before you see it. It never predicts a score, and it never labels a child.

Practiced
74 questions over 5 days, mostly place value and adding within 20.
Strength
Comparing two-digit numbers: 18 of 20 right this week.
To grow
Tens and ones: picks 43 when the answer is 34.
Try at home
Build numbers with 10 pennies in a cup and loose ones, then say the number.

SAMPLE SUMMARY, MADE-UP STUDENT

The AI help, in plain words

Once a week, Anthropic's Claude suggests a practice plan and writes the weekly summary. It works from practice results only, and only for accounts whose consent names it.

What it gets

  • The grade and the test.
  • Each skill's level, how many questions, and how many were right.
  • Common mistakes, and up to 25 recent missed questions with the answer picked.
  • The current plan's settings.

What it never gets

  • Your child's name: it is called "the student".
  • Your email, or any account or session number.
  • The school, or how long each answer took.

Anthropic may not train its models on this data, and we delete each weekly batch there as soon as we have the results.

You stay in charge

  • A suggested plan waits for your OK, unless you choose to apply suggestions automatically, and you can undo it.
  • The weekly email is off until you turn it on.
  • If the AI is unavailable, or a summary fails our checks, we write the summary from the practice ourselves.
  • Deleting your account deletes everything, from Grown-ups.

Every detail is in the student data inventory and the privacy policy.
